The annual Breakbulk and Project Cargo Conference, known as “Breakbulk25”, is the leading senior-level event for professionals in the breakbulk and project cargo shipping and logistics industries. Organised by The Journal of Commerce, the 2025 conference was held on April 23 to 25 in New Orleans.
This year, Swire Projects was represented by Namir Khanbabi (General Manager), Juliana Gibbons (Vice President, Commercial) and Simon Christensen (Vice President, Commercial). It was the perfect platform to connect with clients and introduce our NOPAC semi-liner heavy lift service for ocean freight between Asia and West Coast of North America.

Day one of “Breakbulk2025” kicked off with the Jerry Nagel Memorial Golf Tournament, where golfers competed in a four-person scramble event at one of New Orleans' premier courses. A fantastic experience at the English Turn golf course.

On the second day of “Breakbulk25”, Swire Projects was the sponsor of the networking reception. A great way to meet new people and build meaningful connections across the industry in a relaxed, engaging environment. Additionally, Namir was invited as a speaker on a panel titled 'The State of the Fleet: Expectations, Capacity and Choices to be Made'. Together with fellow industry leaders, they discussed the current state of the multipurpose vessel/heavy-lift sector, addressing capacity challenges, the impact of new regulations and tariffs, and the future outlook for fleet management.
Our team will return to New Orleans, also known as the Big Easy, next year to attend “Breakbulk26” held on 20 to 22 April 2026. We want to thank The Journal of Commerce for organising this event.
